Stillness, Movement, and Everything Between
At Sankofa, we curate experiences with a light footprint and a deep connection to the land. You are invited into the contrast of the elements: heat and cold, stillness and movement, sky and soil. We soften the boundary between indoors and out, offering a quiet taste of local life, warm hospitality, and nature’s rhythms.

Cantina
At our Cantina, the path from garden to plate is short. Sometimes just a few steps. We cook with what grows nearby, working with local farmers, fishers, and producers who share our respect for the land.
This is not a restaurant. We serve simple daily menus at long communal tables. Meals are made to nourish and bring people together.
The Cantina is open to both guests and the local community, offering fresh, seasonal food at prices that are fair and accessible.
-
Market
Our small shop offers a curated selection of wines, seasonal produce, and thoughtful goods from local makers. Everything reflects our values of simplicity, sustainability, and connection to the land.
It’s a place to discover and take something meaningful home. A bottle of natural wine, fresh bread, olive oil, or something made by hand.
Pick it up and walk it back to your tent or cabin. Barefoot, if you’d like.
-
Outdoor Dining
As the sun fades, a long table is set beneath the cork oaks. Lanterns glow, wine is poured, and seasonal dishes arrive slowly, made with care.
This is more than a meal. It’s a gathering. A moment to connect under stars and branches, with the taste of the land in every bite.
-
Swimming Pool
Float in salt-chlorinated water, where the treetops and clouds feel within reach.
Dry off slowly. Find a quiet spot on the viewing deck.
As the sun sinks behind the ridge, sip something cool from the Honour Bar and watch the valley and umbrella pines shift through shades of gold.

Could plunge
A jolt of clarity on a hot summer day, or a reset after the deep heat of the sauna. The cold plunge invites you to step into stillness — sharp, clean, and invigorating.
Feel your breath deepen. Your senses sharpen. Your body return. A ritual of renewal, in every season.scription goes here

Sauna
Still yourself in the dry heat. Let the warmth sink in, soften tension, and soothe tired muscles.
The sauna supports recovery, circulation, and deep rest. With regular use, it can ease pain, clear the mind, and help prepare the body for sleep.
It’s a simple practice — steady, grounding, and deeply renewing.
-
Yoga Shala
Our open-air pavilion sits on a quiet hilltop, surrounded by cork oaks and pine trees. It’s a peaceful space for yoga, meditation, and other practices, with birdsong and rustling leaves as your backdrop.
A place to move, breathe, and reconnect - held by nature on all sides.
-
Nature Gym
We believe movement should be as intentional as rest.
Our open-air gym sits in the shade of the cork oaks, equipped with barbells, kettlebells, a squat rack, TRX, and room to move freely. No mirrors. No noise. No fluorescent lights.
Just you, your breath, and the sounds of the Montado.
Whether you’re lifting at sunrise or stretching at dusk, this is a place to reconnect - with your body, with the earth, and with the quiet power of movement.

Move Lightly, Go Far
Whether by bike or electric buggy, we invite you to explore at your own pace — quietly, cleanly, and with as little impact as possible.
Take the coastal path down to the beach. Drift through the streets of Melides. Or venture into the Serra de Grândola for something wilder.
Choose from classic or electric bikes, or hop in a buggy when you’re heading out with others. All emission-free, all open to the elements.
